i got this a few weeks ago and just recently started to put it on but i noticed that the image on the instructions is a little different than whats actaully on the steering column. really the only difference i can see is this thing part with 8 screws that was holding the other steering wheel. i think if i can take that off is should look like the instructions, am i right, anyone?

I HOPE MY POST WASN'T AS WORTHLESS AS DANNYS. THE ONLY THING DANNY KNOWS ABOUT CARS IS " THE MORE DOORS IT HAS, THE COOLER IT IS"... LOL

Nah, those look like rivets. Your probably going to have to remove that bolt in the middle and slide the whole piece off.

this should help clear things up here it is from a different angle save the retaining clip and nut. you may need it to install the new steering wheel unless you kit comes with a new one. Let me know if this helps

while your there you may wanna service the turn signal assembly with white lithium grease (not WD-40 that shit is a degreaser and does not lube anything) and check for worn parts. also if your car has cruze control and wiper controls on the turn signal lever that are broken replace them now that you have the wheel off. also check the ignition key tumbler and link rods for worn out parts. these connect to the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column and can cause starting issues in this style of GM column. if you have tilt steering and an automatic transmission check and tighten those bolts and check for pinched wires. also be sure to center the column shaft and steering wheel when you reinstall them. if you dont center the column shaft your turn signals may cancel early or be difficult to engauge.

Noe, you can rent a steering wheel puller at autozone. Just make sure you return it on time or you're out of you deposit (which is full price) at least that's how it works at O'Reilys

you have to use a steering wheel puller or it wont come off period. steering wheels are pressure fitted on to the steering shaft.
