I saw this in the news: ANZALDUAS PARK - One of the Valleys most used parks is back open to the public.
More than a year ago flood water from the Rio Grande turned Anzalduas park into a beach. Sergio Saenz is the Park Director for District 3.
He says the sand was about 6 feet high. Saenz says it took Hidalgo County work crews months to dig out the silt.
"This place looked it was destroyed completely. I want to say 100 percent," he said.
Just in time for the independence day holiday workers finally had enough of the park clear to reopen on July 4th. Saenz says the office, the restrooms are up and running.
While most of park is open there are still areas that are going to stay closed for a while longer. Part of a pier is still caved in. Access to the river will also be limited until they can fix the boat ramp.
They have also added more security. There are constables patrolling during the week and on weekends.

Back then that was the place to be on sundays. Nothing compared to the way cruising gets now a days. People from all over the place would go to the park on sundays. Everybody would go, low riders, mini trucks, full size custom trucks even purple on regular cars would go and kick it. We should try to hang out there one of these days.

I went there this weekend with the family to check it out. They've cleaned it up pretty good. The park has all new bar b q pits and the benches have been repainted or replaced. Would be nice to bring it back to life with low lows
