I was reading HOTROD magazine earlier and came across this section. Obviously it's not talking about low riders, but I thought it was interesting. I'll admit I HATE rat rods more than ricers. I'm talking about the ones that are purposely hacked to hell, fake patina, steam punk bullshit. BUT muscle cars that are rough around the corners (possibly sporting a rattle can paint job) have a healthy sounding engine and you can tell are work in progress are awesome to me. Hell a running bomb or (lowride-able) classic car is awesome, and every car guy sees it as a great fixer upper. Throw a hydraulic system and spokes on the same exact car and you start thinking how bad is it screwed up, thinking it just took a 50% or more drop in value, or no longer interested in it all together. What are your thoughts on this state of mind relating to Lowriders? Is the paint and body condition of a low rider too integral that it can't be respected until it's show worthy?

Every car has flaws in pictures they might seem perfect but they are not in my opinion enjoy your ride cruise it and when it comes to a big show try to clean it up a bit but remember it will never be perfect so dont let that stop you from showing it

I see what your saying Danny. Rock chips, cracked windshields, etc.
I'm talking about cars that haven't been on the road in at least over a decade and slapping some daytons and 5.20s and cruising the hell out of it.
I'm saying like my 64, or (no offense) that red project 63 you had. THAT type of car.
Getting it running, making sure all the parts that close do, locks work so you can park it anywhere and at least the drivers door panel and handles/switches are on and working.

Yeah I know what you mean like as said as long as its safe to use cruise it and if its presentable why not show it, I mean you have to respect the shows people want to see presentable rides not projects and by presentable I mean, have a paintjob not primered, most of the interior in tack etc it doesnt have to be a showstopper

I hear you on the people not wanting to see projects at a car show, that's a topic onto itself. I'm really trying to go somewhere with this thread, so don't give me politician answers DANIEL!! LOL! Seriously though, I guess the better question is why won't you do it? Why did it take me a 3-4 days to just find a picture of what I'm talking about in Lowrider form?! I don't want to be presumptuous here, but I would put money on it that a GREAT MAJORITY of us here in the valley would rather leave the car parked until it's fully done (or close to it) for the surprise factor etc, or if really felt urged to drive it would rather it get a shit paint job, and half ass near everything on it instead of taking it out like this. WHY?!

Some do think that way but that car is a perfect example of a street ride thats presentable if I had that I would show it

I don't think I've seen it. Got any pics?
I've seen you driving that Cutlass a bunch of times though. I think even in McAllen on the hwy once.
You, Juan from Traditionals, and Rick from Viejitos are the people I run into all the time. Used to see Paul all the time when I was in Edinburg too. Props to you guys!
